The temperature of the Atlantic Ocean the night the Titanic sank was 1degrees C. How do you think you would cope in water that temperature? How would your body react? How long could you survive? To test our theories we conducted a scientific experiment using a basin of ice. We carried out 4 tasks in normal temperature conditions then submerged one hand in a basin of ice for 1 minute and repeated the task. The children found the tasks much more difficult with a freezing cold hand! We discussed how the coldness affected not only our hand physically, but how it impacted us mentally.
