As part of Engineering Week p6 and p7 were invited to Glenn's farm near the school. We saw firsthand the robotic milking machine and learned how it works. We saw the cows being milked and how they choose to come to the machine day and night. We saw the robotic scraper that cleans the area where the milking cows are. We saw dry cows and heifers and learned all about hygiene on the farm having to dip our boots several times! We had a fantastic morning and are so grateful to Engineers NI and the Lely farm of the Glenn's for facilitating this event. A very informative, education and fun morning! We look forward to learning more about this at the University of Ulster in Coleraine on Friday.
