Talk for Writing
We have been busy familiarising ourselves with the story of The Gingerbread Man. After reading the story together, we created a text map, where we drew pictures to help us retell the story. Then we used story stones to help us retell the story. Our face masks have helped us to re-enact the story and become more familiar with the patterns of language used. By using pictures and actions, it has really helped us to memorise and internalise the story. We have also enjoyed using the voice pads to record our stories. Every child is in the process of making their own hand puppet character which we will also use during our Activity Based Learning (ABL) sessions. Keep an eye out for how we will use all of this as a basis for our own story writing.
