Wednesday 1st April
Hello my wise owls 🦉,
I am so proud of all the hard work you have been doing over the past couple of weeks. You are all stars 🌟 I have received a few superb videos of what you've been getting up to and some excellent pictures too. I love seeing you all so happy and working hard at home. If you have any more videos or pictures send them to me by e-mail as I'd love to see them.
Now for a treat. Your hard work has impressed me so much that I have decided to give you a week off work. Yes that's right a whole week off with no problem solving, no spelling test and certainly no proof reading and editing. Isn't that great news 😃 Well, in other news what do you call the person who pulls the best prank on April Fools' Day? April cool... or in this case Mrs McFeely I'm sorry I just had to do it 😜
Happy April Fools' Day! Today is the day when you get to be a prankster and not told off at the end of it but what is April Fools' Day all about? Who decided it should be a thing? Are there rules to the pranks you can do? Have you ever successfully pulled off any pranks? Did you do any today? Now if you haven't completed any of my research tasks and sent me your answers you have to do this one because I'd love to hear about the pranks you do.
I've only ever done one. When I was about 12 I decided I would prank my dad. I got up early, making sure he was still in bed, ran into his room and shouted at the top of my voice, "Dad, Dad, your car isn't in the drive way. Someone has stolen it!" 🚗 Now if you knew my dad you would know that he is very laid back. I've never heard him raise his voice, I've never seen him rush to answer the door and I've never seen him panic about anything... until that April Fools' Day. He didn't really say much when I told him about his car, I suppose he was still sleeping when I came in so wasn't awake enough to think about what I had said. Feeling deflated that my joke hadn't gone that well I retreated out of my mum and dad's bedroom only to be knocked down at the door by my dad who had just processed what I had said, jumped out of bed like lightning and bolted down the stairs to check for his car. I was left standing in the landing with my jaw on the floor, not quite able to believe what has happening 😲 After a second I ran downstairs after him shouting, "I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm sorry!" to find him laughing at me saying, "April Fools' Day." 😂 The point being my joke backfired and I was the one who panicked in the end not my dad.
Sorry but it was an April fool that you get a week off work. You still have comprehension, problem solving, Accelerated Reader and that all important Friday test to do. I have set you another Friday test on Mathletics this week. It's on number and you don't all have the same tasks as each other so your test will suit your class maths group. Not many AR tests have been done since we last saw each other so please keep reading and taking tests and well done to those of you who have taken some. Remember that Joe Wicks is doing his daily PE lessons on YouTube so keep doing those too. You could get someone to video you doing some PE and send it to me if you like.
I'll catch up with you again on Friday. I hope you have a great couple of days until then.
Your Wise Old(ish) Owl
Mrs McF
P.S. Speaking of old I've just found my first grey hair and I'm blaming you lot for it!
